2010 Softball Divisional Overview

8U Machine-Pitch Community Softball Division

• Age Requirements - Must be 6 on or before January 1st and cannot be 9 on or before January 1st
• 1:20 time limit or 6 innings, 10 run mercy rule after 4 innings
• 5 runs or 3 outs per inning
• 11 inch softball
• 60 foot bases
• Pitching machine at 35 mph
• All players bat, each player to play at least 6 defensive outs
• 5 hittable pitches, no called balls or strikes
• 10 defensive players, no “short fielder”
• No base stealing
• Coach will feed the machine

10U Minor League Community Softball Division

• Age Requirements - Must be 8 on or before January 1st and cannot be 11 on or before January 1st
• 1:30 time limit or 6 innings, 10 run mercy rule after 4 innings
• 5 runs or 3 outs per inning
• 11 inch softball, 35 foot pitching distance and 60 foot bases
• Pitchers may pitch 6 innings per week, the week begins on Monday
• All players bat, each player to play at least 6 defensive outs
• 10 defensive players, no “short fielder”
• No walks (after 4 balls, coach-pitcher will pitch a maximum of 2 hittable pitches depending on the number of strikes remaining in the count)
• Players may steal bases after the ball crosses the plate
• No stealing when coach is pitching
• No stealing home
• No dropped 3rd strike
• Coach-pitcher from each team may remain on the field (sidelines) in order to expedite game

12U Major League Community Softball Division

• Age Requirements - Must be 10 on or before January 1st and cannot be 13 before January 1st
• 1:45 time limit or 6 innings, 10 run mercy rule after 4 innings
• 12 inch softball, 40 foot pitching distance and 60 foot bases
• Pitchers may pitch 10 innings per week, the week begins on Monday
• All players bat, each player to play at least 6 defensive outs
• 9 defensive players
• Players may steal bases when the ball is released by the pitcher
