Jeffersontown Youth Baseball 2010 Baseball Divisional Overview
4/5U T-Ball Division
- Age Requirements – must be 4 on or before April 30 and cannot be 6 on or before April 30
- Batters that show proficiency in practice may receive 3 pitches from coach then hit from tee if unsuccessful (all players bat in 1st inning, 3 outs or 6 runs scored per ½ inning after 1st inning, 5 infielders)
- Two games per week (one week day and one weekend)
- Twelve to sixteen league games (Field 6)
- No umpire
- No League Champion and no All-Star game
5/6U Pee-Wee Division (Coach Pitch)
- Age Requirements – cannot be 7 on or before April 30
- Tryouts for all players (5 year olds that do not try out automatically placed in T-ball Division, undrafted 5 year olds fall to T-ball Division, 6 year olds that do not try out will be hat pick)
- Based on registration numbers, we will form 10-12 drafted teams (possible two divisions) that will compete under modified baseball rules (batter receives 5 hittable pitches, keep score, 3 outs or 6 runs scored per ½ inning, 5 infielders plus catcher)
- Two games per week (one week day and one weekend)
- Twelve to sixteen league games (Field 5)
- Games will include one umpire
- League Champions will be recognized
- All-Star game – “American vs. National”
7U Rookie Division (Machine Pitch)
- Age Requirements – cannot be 8 on or before April 30
- Tryouts for all players
- Teams will be drafted under draft system and remain together through 9U Baseball – same team, same coach (unless request to re-enter draft)
- All coaches must be Board-approved and commitment must be confirmed for following season prior to draft
- Play under Cal Ripken rules
- Two games per week (one week day and one weekend)
- Twelve to sixteen league games (Field 7 and/or Field 2)
- League Champion will be recognized
- Post-season tournament
- All-Star teams will be formed based on league vote
- Teams may remain together for competition in Fall League and continue to practice together during baseball off-season
Elite Division
- Elite Team (one or two) will be formed based on try-outs
- Eight team maximum capacity (non-J-town team cost is $750)
- Player fee for J-town team(s) is $50 (includes hat and jersey)
- Play under USSSA rules
- Ten game minimum (9 regular season plus 1 tournament game minimum)
- Automatic entry in J-town hosted tournaments (parents must volunteer to assist)
- One game per week (Sunday beginning 3/21 – Field 7)
8U Rookie Division (Machine Pitch)
- Age Requirements – cannot be 9 on or before April 30
- Players will return to the same team and same coach as previous year
- Players requesting to re-enter draft will try-out along with new 8U registrants
- Supplemental draft based on previous year order-of-finish and number of returning players
- Play under Cal Ripken rules
- Two games per week (one week day and one weekend)
- Twelve to sixteen league games (Field 7 and/or Field 2)
- League Champion will be recognized
- Post-season tournament
- All-Star teams will be formed based on league vote

- The top players based on try-outs will be drafted on one to two teams to compete in the National League 12U Major Division
- One Elite Division game per week (beginning 3/21) and two Recreation League games per week
- Same team, same coach
- Players age 10 on or before April 30 not selected for 10U Elite Division fall to Minor Division
12U Major Division (Baseball - two divisions)
- Age Requirements – cannot be 13 on or before April 30
- Tryouts for all players (if player does not try-out, they are automatically placed in 12U National League)
American Division – 50/70 format
- Four to five drafted league teams that are All-Star eligible
- Play under Cal Ripken rules
- Two games per week (one week day and one weekend)
- Twelve to sixteen league games (Field 4)
- Two All-Star teams from both 12U and 11U divisions based on league vote
Elite Division
- Elite Teams (two) will be formed based on try-outs for both 12U and 11U
- Twelve team maximum capacity (non-J-town team cost is $850)
- Player fee for J-town team(s) is $50 (includes hat and jersey)
- Play under USSSA rules
- Ten game minimum (9 regular season plus 1 tournament game minimum)
- Automatic entry in J-town hosted tournaments (parents must volunteer to assist)
- One game per week (Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday beginning 3/22 – Field 4)
- 50/70 format
- Big barrel bats allowed
National Division – 46/65 format
- All players not drafted to the American Division will be drafted under current draft system
- One or two 10U Competitive Division teams will compete in 12U Recreation Division
- Play under Cal Ripken rules
- Two games per week (one week day and one weekend)
- Twelve to sixteen league games (Field 3 and/or Field 4)
- All-Star game – “American vs. National” (12U and 11U)
15U Senior Major Division (Baseball)
- Same format as previous
- 13U may be separate division if numbers support
18U Big League Division (Baseball)
- TBD based on level of interest
ALL DIVISIONS Any player may request to “Play-Up” one division (add 1 to the players’ age to determine eligibility). Said player must try-out and be drafted in division requested or they will be returned to their normal division.
