Elite Softball

On the 5th of September, after a very successful All-Star run, a six-week layoff and a change in personnel, the "new-look" 8U Elite Girls traveled to Marion County, KY, for the 2nd Annual Labor Day Classic.
They defeated the Scott County Red Heat, Garrard County 8U girls, and the Marion County Sluggers before losing a tough 10-9 semi-final game to the Scott County Red Heat.

On the 22nd of July, the 8U All Stars traveled to Wisconsin Rapids to begin play in the Babe Ruth (7-state) Ohio Valley Regional Tournament in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. On Wednesday the registration and a skills contest was conducted. Individual Jeffersontown players took 2nd place in all four events (hitting, throwing, running and bunting).

On the 9th of July, the 8U All Stars began play in the E. Kentucky State Tournament. While game 1 was held at Skyview Park between Jeffersontown and East Louisville, the remainder of the tournament was played in Mount Sterling, KY.

On 4th of July Weekend, as we celebrated our independence, the Jeffersontown 8U Girls All Star Team traveled to Prairie Village Babe Ruth League to play in the 6th Annual 4th of July Explosion Tournament.

On June 14th, with a few personnel changes, the Jeffersontown Elite Team continued its season as the 2009 8U All Stars. One week later, they won their second straight tournament championship while playing in the "Silver Creek Wildcat Tournament" in Sellersburg, IN. After going 2 and 1 in pool play on Saturday, Jeffersontown was the number 2 seed heading into tournament play on Sunday. Remaining in the winners bracket, Jeffersontown went undefeated on Sunday to bring home the championship despite some fierce competition from our friends in Southern Indiana.

On Memorial Day Weekend, as we paid tribute to our fallen servicemen and women, the Jeffersontown 8U Girls Elite Team traveled to Boonville, IN and played in the Boonville Spring Swing.

On Saturday, May 9, 2009, the 8U Girls Elite Team hosted the 1st Annual Jeffersontown/Marion County Challenge at Jeffersontown Veteran's Field. This event is designed to allow both teams to hone their skills while promoting goodwill with our newfound friends in Marion County, Kentucky. After the first game, the teams shared a meal and some good fellowship before hitting the field for the second game of the double-header. We would like to take this time to thank our friends in Marion County and wish them good luck as they build their 8U/10U softball program.

Thanks to the generous folks at O'Charley's Restaurant on Hurstbourne Parkway and Coach Melody Guthrie for allowing our young ladies to conduct a Pancake Breakfast Fund Raiser on Saturday morning, March 21st. A good time was had by all while the 8U Elites worked hard and raised funds to participate in two or three additional tournaments this season. Also, a special thanks to all of the parents, grandparents, family members, and friends who support our young ladies in all they do.

In January 2009, Coach James Himes started an Elite Softball Program at Jeffersontown. On the weekend of the 14th and 15th of March, 2009, the 8U Girls Elite Team traveled to Paducah, KY and played their first games. The tournament was held at the Paducah Sports Plex. Our girls won 2 games and lost 1 while placing 3rd in their first ever tournament.
